Fighting for Justice After 18 Years of Wrongful Conviction

Support for Daoud Boone

Daoud Omar Boone has been wrongfully convicted and incarcerated for 18 years without proper representation and support. He fears he may die incarcerated without receiving justice.

Daoud Boone’s former attorney Susan James affirms in an affidavit that she believes he deserves a new trial because had she called his alibi witnesses, “the outcome would have been different.”

“I am a new version of Daniel. This is the Lion’s den, but you don’t have to sit idle until I’m devoured.  Prayerfully you recognize how harmful and problematic our current Retributive Justice mentality has become.  It has created a blood lust no longer concerned with truth and innocence but hyper focused on shame and guilt.  Don’t assume this problem will be solved without your involvement. If everyone waits on someone else to do what anyone can do no one gets anything done and everyone is to blame so don’t assume someone else will fix this.  Plan, act, and follow up.  Mass incarceration affects us all. Fyodor Dostoevsky says it best, “The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons.” My story is just one of many injustices and injury.  Break the silence.  Become an active bystander. Help create a safer more respectful environment. Be a model for others of positive involvement looks like.  Be an advocate for justice, restoration, and truth.  In joy and justice.”  Daoud Omar Boone

Daoud's Story, from "Beauty and Brutality"

"My pop’s, has always been my hero. As you heard during his eulogy, he was an influential civil and human rights advocate.  It wouldn’t surprise me if this was your first time hearing about him."
"We are detoured and distracted from learning about the people who sacrifice the most for us.  Black heroes are often considered myth.  Those who fight for freedom justice and equality are considered villains, whitewashed, misrepresented, swept under the rug or cautionary tales of how standing for what’s right can get you murdered."

"Meanwhile my father’s factual accomplishments go unmentioned for fan fiction.   But since this is my narrative I plan to give my father his flowers. [Picture of my father being arrested] As you see Pop’s was bout that life.  He started the Alabama Action Committee. He forced white businesses to hire black employees and cease discriminatory practices.  Without him black officers and officials wouldn’t even be working here but I doubt most realize this from the way many mistreat inmates.  He’s accredited with bringing the federal food stamps program to Alabama."
